VCC Library and Learning Centre Code of Conduct
Purpose
To create a safe, productive, and welcoming environment, all users are required to follow these Guidelines and the related Policies linked below.
- Show respect towards all members of the Library and Learning Centre community.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, and boundaries of others and refrain from inappropriate behaviour.
- Be considerate of those studying by following guidelines for: noise; food and drink consumption; recycling and garbage disposal. (3)
- Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. (1)
- Personal belongings should not be left unattended.
- Obtain permission ahead of time if you take any photos or videos, and make sure not to include anyone who does not give you permission.
- Reduce or eliminate the use of scented products and minimize strong body odours. (5)
- Accessible equipment and furniture are for priority use by people with disabilities.
- Library and Learning Centre resources, such as spaces, materials, and equipment must be treated with care. Damaging or misusing materials is not tolerated. (8)
- Use computers for educational, research, and informational purposes in accordance with college policies. (12)
- Avoid blocking exits or traffic flow.
- Adhere to borrowing and return policies. (9)
- Bicycles and similar large items must not be brought into the Library and Learning Centre. Using rollerblades, skateboards, and similar items indoors is not allowed.
- Exit the Library and Learning Centre promptly at closing time and during alarms.
- Users must comply with reasonable direction given by staff.
- Users must respond promptly and courteously to any request from staff to present valid identification.
- If asked by staff to leave the space, users are required to comply promptly and respectfully.
Conduct violations may result in the temporary or permanent suspension of Library and Learning Centre privileges per College policy and/or College Security directives.
Violation of College Policy will be referred to the appropriate College authority.
