About the Library
Vision
VCC Library is the heart of the college:
A hub of collaboration, inspiration, and support which is inclusive and accessed by all learners.
Our Values
Student Success: We create an accessible environment where students enrich and enhance their skills, learn, pursue, and realize their goals.
Inclusion: We value and respect the vibrant diversity of learners and are committed to fostering community and well-being.
Responsiveness: We reflect on our practices, adapting to the ever-changing needs of learners, and seek to improve our quality of service.
Access: We support intellectual exploration by providing opportunities for growth and learning through the equitable provision of information, services, technology, and space.
Instruction
Library instruction focuses on the creation, organization, and dissemination of information in its many forms. The complex information environment in which we live presents problems of systematic exclusion and marginalizes some voices while privileging others. We advocate for active engagement with ethics, diversity and inclusion in our teaching and learning. The outcomes are intentionally broad in scope in order to allow flexibility. Individual librarians work with instructors to meet the learning objectives most appropriate for course level outcomes.
