Computers
VCC Library provides workstations with either LeafOS or another Operating System with computer software installed.
What is LeafOS?
LeafOS allows you to access DaaS, a program that connects users to their virtual Windows desktop. Once you log in to LeafOS and DaaS, you will have access to all your VCC programs including Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Acrobat Reader, OneDrive, Internet Browsers (Firefox, Chrome and Edge), MS Publisher, and Safe Exam Browser
Laptops
- The library has a number of laptops available for loan.
- Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Laptops may be borrowed for either the same day (Express), 24 hours, or 2 weeks.
- The borrower assumes all responsibility for lost or damaged laptops.
- Students and employees must present a physical VCC Library Card, Driver's License, BCID, or Passport with their picture on it in order to check out a laptop.
- Only 1 laptop or iPad per person.

LeafOS Laptops at VCC Library
Once connected to Wi-Fi, you will see a sign in screen. Log in using your VCC email and password, followed by Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). You can browse the internet directly by using the Chromium browser, without logging in to the full desktop. (The Chromium browser is also wiped when the laptop restarts.) These laptops are pre-configured to automatically connect to the "VCC LeafLabs" Wi-Fi on campus. If you take a LeafOS laptop home, you need to connect to another WiFi to use it, and if you want to access your Windows Desktop or other Software, like Word or PowerPoint, click and login into the DaaS program in your LeafOS screen
Note: USB Security keys are not currently working with LeafOS.
Express Laptops
Need a laptop for a few hours? Express Laptops (no charger, mouse, or bag) with LeafOS are available at the library. They must stay on campus and be returned before closing time.
Other laptops
Non-LeafOS laptops are preinstalled with Windows 10, web browsers, and Microsoft Office. You may not install additional software, and the laptops are not able to run advanced software such as AutoCad or Adobe Creative Suite.
Departmental Laptops
As well, the library holds some laptops on reserve for specific departmental use. For more information, contact libraryhelp@vcc.ca or the department.
