10. Citing Sources
Plagiarism is when someone presents the work of another person as his or her own. According to VCC's "Student Educational Conduct Policy", it can lead to failing grades or even expulsion. It is essential that you cite your sources for all your research and assignments.

All exact quotes AS WELL AS ideas that you paraphrase or summarize. If it isn't your original idea, you must cite! |

To give credit to the original author and to show your reader where the information came from. Otherwise you are plagiarizing. |

Cite sources as soon as you mention them in the body of your paper and also at the end in a "Works Cited" list. |
