|September 12, 2019||Thursday||
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
||3041 (Learning Centre Workshop Room)||Broadway Campus|
Developed in consultation with the Indigenous Education and Community Engagement department, the Learning Centre and Library are launching a new, professional learning series on Indigenization for service staff using the open educational resource Pulling Together: A guide for front-line staff, student services, and advisors. The goal of the series is to create a learning community that works to better understand our personal and professional responsibilities to reconciliation work and identify ways to improve our services for Indigenous students. The Pulling Together open educational resource was created by a team of post-secondary staff, instructors and administrators. The book chapters are relatively short with approachable language and the book can be downloaded for free here: https://opentextbc.ca/indigenizationfrontlineworkers/
The learning series will run from Sep 2019 - May 2020. Participants will be committing to nine sessions to work through the entire book. Each month, participants will complete required readings and activities, then meet to discuss. Anyone who works in a student service role at VCC is invited to join us, but registration will be limited to 16 participants per campus.
The Broadway series will be facilitated by Emily Simpson, Coordinator, Learning Centre.
