Borrowing, Renewing and Requesting

The book I want is at the other campus. Do I have to go to the other campus to get it?   | top
    You can place a request on the book in the Library catalogue, and have it sent to your campus. It will be sent the next working day. Please see How to place a request.
Do I have to return an item to the campus where I borrowed it?   | top
    You can return items to either campus.
How do I check my account or renew library materials?   | top
  • To check your library account or renew items first login to your library account. Items you have checked out from the library are listed under Checked Out Items. To Renew, click on "Select for Renewal" box next to the item you wish to renew. Click the "Renew" button.
I tried to renew a book, but it didn't work. Why not?   | top
    There are several possible reasons you can't renew a book:
    • Another student or employee has requested this book.
    • You have already renewed the item nine times. You can only renew a book nine times before having to bring it back to the library.
    • Your account has expired or is about to expire (if you've finished your program, for example).
    • Your account has been blocked. Contact the Circulation Desk for details.
    • The item is not a "Regular Loan" item. This means there are different rules for it, and you might not be able to renew it. Contact the Circulation Desk for details.
How do I request library materials?   | top
    • Search for a title that you would like to request.
    • Click on the Request Any Copy button in the item record.
    • You will be asked to login to your Library Account through myVCC
    • The Request screen will appear. In the User ID box, enter your student or employee ID number.
    • Select a pickup location from the drop-down selection box.
    • Click the Submit button.
    • If the request was placed successfully, you will see a confirmation screen that says "Your hold has been successfully processed." and confirms the item and patron information for this request. Make sure the information is correct.
    • Click OK to return to the search screen.
Where do I get materials that are on reserve?   | top
    Reserve materials are located at the Book Checkout desk.
    You can search for reserve material in the Library Catalogue by instructor name or by course number.
