At the Broadway Campus, tutors host small meetings for English as a Second Language conversation practice. These take place most weeks that ESL classes are meeting. See the schedule or check with the Broadway Learning Centre for more information about the times and the language levels of the Conversation Club.
In October/November, February/March and May/June, the English Tutors at the Broadway campus lead free workshops for VCC ESL students in the Learning Centre Workshop room behind the Student Computing Centre. The workshops can help you practice what you have studied in class and learn about cultural/community events. Some of the topics are pronunciation, vocabulary, spelling, the local news or how to use an English dictionary. There is no pre-registration - see the schedule for workshop times.
All tutors can help you learn how to manage your time more effectively, end procrastination, read a textbook and other study skills. Drop by a centre, send us an email or log in to our IM tutoring to ask a question.
The tutors have created worksheets that address commonly-asked study skills questions.
The Learning Centre Coordinator teaches in-class workshops on study skills and test taking. Ask your instructor to contact us to arrange a session.
